IRKED @ CHARLES DICKENS WORTHING

Arriving from the Worthing of the north East, the up and coming (although to say they already have an underground cult following wouldn't be a lie ) Punk outfit IRKED (Wrong speed records) are welcomed by grey clouds and drizzle much to the bewiderment of guitarist Simon Hubbard to the Charles dickens in Worthing in another of a sold out show put on by promoters Dream smotherers.

However to Irked that mattered not one bit and despite early technical problems, IRKED persevered and carried on with all the energy, enthusiasm and bucket loads of talent needed to make this journey south a gig to remember. Vocalist, Helen Walkinshaw's harmonic shrieks and growls were an instant example of how IRKED have the live reputation that proceeds them.

Tracks such as 'The ACP, Repeat offender and The hardest man in Billingham' clearly demonstrate how IRKED have become one of the most talked about socially important underground punk bands in recent years. Comparisons to perhaps Amy & the snifflers and Huggy bear are obviously warranted but remain just that.

IRKED are proving that with the collective power of social grievance, shredding riffs and in house chemistry (that even Antoine Lavoiser would marvel at) they have the potential and credentials to not just put themselves on the map but to make themselves impossible to ignore.
